Anal Abscess

An anal abscess is a painful condition in which a collection of pus develops near the area around anus.

How anal abscess develops?

Most anal abscesses are a result of infection from small anal glands. It may due to hair root infection around the anus.

What are the symptoms of anal abscess?

They are of four types:

  • Pain: pain at and around anal region is most frequent cause of this due to which you cannot sit properly.
  • Fever: it is present with rigors or shivering so it may resemble the fever of malaria like but paint at anal region should keep in mind.
  • In other symptoms local swelling, redness around anus may present.
  • In some cases, an anal fistula causes persistent drainage. In other cases, where the outside of the tunnel opening closes, the result may be recurrent anal abscesses.

How to diagnose the abscess?

Proctologist can diagnose the abscess with local examination or he may require the sonography or CT scan of that part to confirm the exact site and quantity of the pus inside.
